Avium has partnered with MSW Ventures in support of AFX, a flagship fund established to fuel innovation and provide substantial support for startups operating in the media, technology, and Web3.0 industries. As MSW Ventures’ industry partner for Web3.0, Avium will be launching a series of initiatives exclusively for its community to support visionary entrepreneurs and help them bring their ideas to life.
As its first initiative, Avium is establishing its Avium Venture Scout program, where exclusively selected community members may receive up to US$5,000 for their involvement and participation.
Venture scouts, often known as VC scouts or startup scouts, are resourceful connectors that may assist funds in discovering hidden, exceptional startups and founders to invest in. As an Avium Venture Scout, your role will be to identify interesting startups, research them, their teams, and their competition, and present it to the investment committee at Avium. If the referred startup receives an investment from us, the venture scout will receive a monetary reward for their involvement and work done, proportionate to the investment sum. However, venture scouts are not employees and as such do not receive a salary/budget.
You may apply through our online application form. You will be informed via email if your application is successful. We look for a few criteria in AVS, including network and connections, passion for startups, entrepreneurial experience, industry experience, and communication and interpersonal skills.
Network & connections: Your network and connections within the startup community can provide access to deal flow and valuable insights. It helps to have a good feeling for what makes for a good startup as well as a network of quality startups, usually at an early stage, to refer to investors.
Passion for startups: Demonstrating a genuine passion for startups, innovation, and emerging technologies is crucial. So is enthusiasm about discovering and supporting promising early-stage companies.
Entrepreneurial experience: Having experience as an entrepreneur or working closely with startups demonstrates your understanding of the challenges and dynamics of the startup ecosystem.
Industry expertise: Specialized knowledge or expertise in a specific industry or technology can be valuable when evaluating potential investment opportunities.
Communication & interpersonal skills: Venture scouts often need to interact with entrepreneurs, fellow scouts, and the investment team. Effective communication, relationship-building skills, and the ability to articulate your investment thesis are essential.
As a venture scout, you’ll be plugged into the venture capital ecosystem, and have the opportunity to learn about the industry and network with the relevant stakeholders. The referral award is a bonus to reflect the hard work and time, but importantly, as an Avium Venture Scout, you have the chance to build up your network of contacts and establish expertise in the venture capital ecosystem. Being an Avium Venture Scout also helps to sharpen your analysis of the potential of startups, understand the investment process and recommend founders to funds. There is no fixed time commitment as a venture scout, although we will evaluate pipeline and dealflow in managing the Avium Scout community.
Only Avium Founders Pass are eligible to apply.
You will need to disclose your information to us, which will be kept private, as part of the due diligence process.
